Collaborating to Build the Resilience and Income of Smallholder Farmers
Center for Microenterprise Development Ltd/Gte (CMD) has been delivering innovative services to farmers with the objective of increasing productivity, resilience and incomes of farmers. Propcom+ is UK Aid’s climate-resilient and agricultural market development programme aimed at supporting economic growth for smallholder farmers and small and medium enterprises in conflict and climate-affected regions in Nigeria. Propcom+ and CMD are collaborating to build the resilience and income of smallholder farmers through provision of climate-smart agricultural practices and digital extension services using satellite.
Crop Monitoring with EOS
Using EOS Data Analytics Crop Monitoring, we support farmers to stay updated on plants' health and growth stages with fresh satellite images. Weekly reports enable the farmer to keep an eye on crop conditions. We monitor pest and diseases using EOS, and help the farmer track vegetation changes, and monitor soil moisture.
Climate Smart Storybook
Our new storybook is about a wise farmer who heeds to Extension Advisory Services on Good Agronomic Practices on land preparation, weather predictions, seed, weed and pest management, harvest ad post harvest management. This material was developed with UK aid support, however, the views expressed here don't necessarily reflect the UK government’sofficial policies. The storybook is available in English & Hausa'
Digital Messaging
We support farmers with short messaging services (SMS) on good agronomic practices, weather notifcations through our partner Ignitia Nigeria, disease and pest alerts using information from EOS Data Analytics, and market information about pices of commodities.
